BERLIN, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt extended their winning streak after beating Apollon 2-0 in the third round of the Europa League group stage action on Thursday.

The "Eagles" secured their third victory in as many games in Group H after first-half goals from Filip Kostic and Sebastien Haller were enough to beat Apollon.

From the start, Frankfurt assumed control and pressed the visitors from Cyprus into their own half. Kostic provided the first clear-cut chance in the 12th minute after testing Apollon's goalkeeper Bruno Vale with a free kick on target.

The Serbian international remained in the thick of things, and he was able to break the deadlock just moments later when he nutmegged Vale with a low shot from the edge of the box.

Frankfurt remained in complete control of proceedings and their dominance paid off at the half hour mark as Haller headed home Evan Ndicka's pinpoint cross. Adi Huetter's men continued on the front foot but Mijat Gacinovic, Ante Rebic, Haller and Jonathan de Guzman squandered promising chances before half time.

After the restart, Apollon were still unable to produce any danger in front of Frankfurt's goal. Meanwhile the hosts continued to be wasteful with their opportunities. The visitors almost reduced the arrears out of the blue but Frankfurt's goalkeeper Frederik Roennow, the woodwork and Marco Russ denied all efforts.

"We are delighted that we have won the game today but we should have added more goals to our lead," Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director Fredi Bobic said.

With their third consecutive win Eintracht Frankfurt top Group H with 9 points followed by Lazio (6 points), Apollon Limassol (1 point) and Olympique de Marseille (1 point).
