YANGON, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will send 40,000 migrant workers to work in Thailand's fishing industry under a memorandum of understanding system in accordance with Thailand's offer, Myanmar News Agency reported Friday.

The issue topped the discussions on labor affairs between Myanmar Minister of Labor, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe and visiting Thai Labor Minister Adul Sangsingkeo in Nay Pyi Taw Thursday.

Their discussions also dealt with cases of sending laborers holding fake visa by unscrupulous employment agents and protection of laborers in Thailand's fishing industry as well as the extension of working period.

Moreover, the Thai side will open Certificate of Identity centers for Myanmar migrant workers, relocate passport office at Mahachaing, cooperate to formulate legal remittance system for them and grant permit for the teachers of migrant workers' children.

Meanwhile, Myanmar and Thailand held their 9th meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday, co-chaired by Myanmar Minister of International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin and Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai.

Their discussions also covered working for promotion and protection of the rights of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand.
