WASHINGTON, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Paul Manafort's former son-in-law, who was reportedly under investigation about his business dealings, has agreed to work with the Justice Department, multiple outlets reported Thursday.

Reports said Jeffrey Yohai, who divorced last year with Manafort's daughter, Jessica Manafort, has agreed to cooperate on other criminal probes and cut a deal with federal prosecutors.

Yohai was also Manafort's former business partner while the latter was President Donald Trump's campaign chairman. Manafort is facing trials in two criminal cases brought by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Local reports said Yohai has sealed a deal with federal prosecutors in California, and according to a court filing and Yohai's lawyer, he is now implicated in Mueller's investigation.

The criminal information and plea deal detailing Yohai's alleged crimes and any terms of his cooperation with the authorities were not made public.

Federal investigations had been examining Yohai's business dealings, including those involving Manafort, who has pleaded not guilty in both cases brought against him by Mueller.

In addition to his involvement in the special counsel investigation, Yohai has been caught up in separate probes in New York and California on allegations of inappropriate financial dealings, including misusing funds from a construction loan.

Since he was appointed a year ago as the chief investigator into Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election, Mueller has brought charges against 19 individuals, including Manafort, notched five guilty pleas and seen one person sentenced.
