KABUL, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reopened its embassy and resumed diplomatic activities in the Afghan capital Kabul city, reported the state-run Bakhtar news agency on Monday.
"Based on the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide all services to the brotherly Afghan people, it has been decided to resume its diplomatic activities in Kabul from Dec. 22," Bakhtar added, citing a statement of the Saudi Arabia embassy in Kabul.
Saudi Arabia reportedly withdrew its diplomats from Kabul following the withdrawal of the U.S.-led forces from Afghanistan and taking over power by the current Afghan caretaker government in the war-ravaged country in August 2021. ■
